The Air NZ Files

His master's voice

A very good reason to fly with Air New Zealand (beside the friendly service, the tasty food and the fact that they have the most beautiful decorated planes)...

A few years ago Air New Zealand produced a new soundfile for the safety instructions. Speaking to people about what to do in case of an emergency without making them feel uncomfortable is quite a feat. They needed a calm, serious, trustworthy voice - one that says „Everything is fine but listen to me now, okay?“

Fortunately for Air NZ, their passengers and mainly for us, it was decided to hire Mark for the job. In the course not only every fan flying with Air New Zealand can listen to him (a pretty funny experience, believe me!) but also Mark has to listen to his own explanations each time he uses an Air New Zealand plane (despite what Craig Parker once said during a panel at RingCon, they don't fly themselves...).

Ute kindly taped Mark's announcements during each of our flights and Lea converted the video files into mp3. So, thanks to those ladies, here are the files - and I’m sure that no matter how often you have taken a plane before, *this* time you will listen very, very carefully to the safety instructions...
